What is Trance Mediumship?
Trance mediumship requires the use of the mediums physical body.
Because Spirits no longer have physical bodies it is necessary for them to make use of individuals who have developed themselves sufficiently as mediums, to express their own personalities through the body and consciousness of the medium, and thus, communicate to the audience using the medium’s voice box.
To enable this to happen, the medium has to learn to relax his mind and make himself less aware of his own thoughts, feelings and surroundings.
As he does this, he is opening himself up to the influence of people living in the Spirit world who wish to communicate through the medium.
Evidence that there is a discarnate Spirit speaking usually takes the form of a complete change of voice and personality, along with a depth of knowledge that the medium is known not to have.
My very earliest memory of having given a semi-trance address from the church platform was during one of the church circle evenings when I was asked to get onto the platform and attempt to give a talk about Spiritualism.
I had no recollection of what I had said but remember being praised by members of the circle after I had finished.
With hindsight I believe that I must have been entranced or at least inspired by an individual in the Spirit world to speak, because the praise I received was not typical of that given after my previous efforts at speaking, as I had been very nervous of attempting any form of public speaking.
Fine Feather introduces himself
At Mollie McManus’s home circle after many months of steady progress, a guide named Black Feather speaking through Mollie, asked again and again for a name of the new visitor (who could be felt by members of the circle) but had been forbidden to use the name.
Perhaps Michaël (another communicator speaking through Alan) might know?
Michaël then spoke quite clearly, ‘Fine Feather’, who was a strong man and very powerful.
He was Alan’s guide and was giving power.
Black Feather said that he had known of Fine Feather but was never allowed to use his name, adding that Fine Feather was one of the ‘Holy Ones’.
It then became clear that it had been, and was still, Fine Feather’s power that had enabled Michaël to speak.
As the evening drew to a close and after much conversation about the events of the evening, I revealed that I had been told of my guide, Fine Feather, about five years previously through another trance medium, but had thought no more of it.
I had been to see a Spiritual healer in 1986 who also happened to be a trance medium.
Sometimes we would receive direct communication from the healer’s guide whose name was White Horse. He once told me that I would be doing healing and mediumship one day, to which I replied that it was most unlikely as I had no interest in either.
One evening, White Horse was speaking and suddenly stopped to tell us that there was someone with the healer who wished to speak to me personally.
His manner changed totally and then a booming voice shouted to me, ‘You sleep, you sleep!’ while thumping my shoulder with the palm of his hand!
Somewhat shaken by the experience, I replied that I wasn’t asleep but was wide awake listening to what was being said!
He was explaining in his own way that I was doing nothing to enable him to help me to be a medium and a healer, and that we both had much work to do. I remember telling him in no uncertain terms that I wasn’t interested, but it is quite apparent now that Fine Feather had other ideas.
My book, ‘A Wonderful Spiritual Journey’ chronicles the progress made over several years.
