The last year or so has been tough for all of us but somehow we’ve found ways to keep going and things to sustain us. Many of us have found that our pets have kept us sane. No matter how gloomy things seem our dogs continue to wag their tails and they still love to play. Our cats still purr and continue to let us know that they are in charge of the household.
Our pets are members of our families. But do we always fully appreciate our family members? Do we perhaps sometimes take our companion animals for granted? Although we love them we can get grumpy with the dog when she chews a shoe or the new rug. We can get annoyed when we stroke the cat who doesn’t want to be stroked at that moment and he gives us a nip. When an animal expresses itself in accordance with how it feels we shouldn’t respond with anger.
Our pets love us unconditionally and in challenging times they can be our saviours. Of course they need us to provide for their welfare but we need them too – now more than ever.
