A Ghostly image in Croydon Spiritualist Church?
Dear all, I wanted to take this opportunity to firstly say hello to each and everyone one of you and say a thank you to all those that have attended our services recently and supported our beautiful little church.
I am alongside many of you sending my healing thoughts out to our wider world where it is desperately needed at this time, and I extend this healing light to those world leaders who need to see the damage their decisions are causing and take personal responsibility for their actions. I am amazed at the kindness of others in all that people have been doing to help feed and shelter those in need and I will continue to send healing light out into our world.
Within spiritualism the month of March represents (well to me anyway) the Hydesville rapping’s event. In 1848 the Fox family were living in a little cottage they had moved into the previous December in Hydesville, New York, and had begun experiencing strange knocks and rapping’s in the house that no family member could explain. The family attempted on numerous occasions to identify where these noises were coming from and would even stand on either side of doorways where knocks could be heard but still no explanation. Kate one of the daughters had done something that pathed the way to what we now know as ‘modern spiritualism’. That was to challenge these noises heard by asking to have the snaps of her fingers repeated. To the family’s amazement each snap made by Kate clicking her fingers was echoed with a knock. It wasn’t until the night of March 31st, 1848, when there was a loud outbreak of sounds that could not be ignored that the family invited neighbours in to witness these happenings. From this, codes were formulated using the alphabet and the Hydesville rapping’s sparked great interest from far and wide in a time whereby talk of the supernatural was considered the height of fashion. Parlour games such as the use of Ouija boards (a blend of the French and German word for yes) were popular in high society but always behind closed doors. Even Queen Victoria and Prince Albert had a fascination of the paranormal.
The Hydesville rapping’s provided us with the knowledge that.
- Intelligent communication is possible with Spirit.
- Different codes and methods are available for this communication to occur.
- Some individuals have a want and ability to provide communication as a Spiritual Medium.
