Open Platform: Like the Open Mic down the pub, only different!

open platform

The ‘open platform’ in a spiritualist church is a mediumistic equivalent to open mic night at the local pub, but rather than hearing warbled renditions of ‘Wonderwall’ or ‘I will Survive’ (although you will – survive that is, not hear the song), you are far more likely to get messages from the spirit world or hear short readings and addresses.

Pre-lockdown, the Open Platform nights at Croydon Spiritualist Church were times of great anticipation and camaraderie. After a long, silent interlude, we are excited to open our doors and hearts once again to our community, welcoming the opportunity to share and grow together.

Our Open Platform is not merely an event; it’s a celebration of spiritual growth and unity. This isn’t about delivering the perfect reading, address, or message, but about honouring each individual’s unique spiritual journey.

Of course, this is not solely about being on the platform. We do need an audience too. You need to be willing to receive messages and be tolerant. Most messages that miss the mark are due to misinterpretation. A medium might see an image of a red rose, for instance. Does this symbolise love? A particular person? A specific event? Is it simply a favourite flower of the communicator? It’s up to the medium to interpret these signals as best they can, using their intuition, experience, and the context of the individual they are reading for. Through experience, mediums learn how to interpret what they are getting. Gaining experience is what open platforms are all about.

So, we warmly welcome you whether you are a seasoned spiritualist, a developing medium, or intrigued by the spiritual realm. Join us on the 31st of July for an evening that will not only lift your spirits but potentially offer a new perspective on your spiritual journey.

The Open Platform at Croydon Spiritualist Church promises an event that will surpass any gathering at your local pub. It will certainly be less rowdy!

The event will be chaired by our president, Anne-Marie Bond DSNU, who is a spiritual teacher artist and medium and a tutor at The Arthur Findlay College. She is well-placed to encourage and offer a word of help if you need it whilst on the platform. We look forward to welcoming you to an enlightening experience.
